The story behind the red thread
In Japanese and East Asian folklore, akai ito, the “red thread of fate,” is an invisible thread that ties together people who are meant to meet. No matter the distance or time, it may stretch or tangle, but it never breaks. Akaito joins those two words into one name. A dojo is held together the same way: schedules change and families move, but the bonds made on the mat hold.
Red has always been my favorite color. It was my father's, too. He had a gift for connection. He remembered the details that mattered to people, kept friendships for decades, and was the one everyone called when something needed fixing. So much of who I am, and my belief that I can build almost anything, comes from him.
In our dojo, in our home, and everywhere I meet people, I try to be that kind of thread: connecting people and showing kindness along the way. Akaito Connect is that idea turned into a tool, so every family, instructor and student stays tied together, even when they're apart.
